Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Duty or Commericial Transport mechanic to join our team in the Merritt location. The ideal candidate will perform maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty equipment, including trucks, trailers, and other heavy machinery. The Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and components. The candidate must have a willingness to travel to do repairs, work some after-hours/weekends, and be comfortable working in outside conditions and shop environments around the valley.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair heavy-duty equipment, including trucks, trailers, and other heavy machinery.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and components.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure that trucks are in good working order.
  • Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Communicate with other team members and customers regarding repair and maintenance needs.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
  • Order parts over the phone and write work orders.
  • Weld and torch as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a mechanic.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and components.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems along with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a Class 3 or Class 1 (air brakes) license is a huge bonus.
  • Previous tow truck experience is a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel within the lower mainland and Fraser Valley to do repairs and work some after-hours/weekends.
  • Reliable, works well with others, and able to get to and from work on their own.
  • Must have their own tools, while shop tools will be provided.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $50.00 per hour
