Looking for Full time HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (4+ Yrs Experience Required)


$35–$45 an hour

JOB SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including maintaining equipment, conducting, and completing equipment inspections, site inspections, assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment within a civil construction environment,
  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures,
  • Accurately conduct pre-operational checks on equipment,
  • Accurately conduct safety and inspection reports, including daily and site hazard assessments and other work reports,
  • Maintain heavy equipment, including reporting and logging maintenance requirements and troubleshooting,
  • Clean, lubricate and fuel equipment,
  • Ensuring compliance with all company, customer, and legislated safety policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator (minimum 4000 hours seat time),
  • Maintain a valid unrestricted driver's license and clean driver’s abstract (class 1 or heavy trailer endorsement preferred),
  • Operates equipment with care and attention to equipment, site, and crew,
  • Familiar with field level hazard assessments,
  • Experience and knowledge within a civil construction environment,
  • Experience and knowledge of gravel pit / quarry operations would be an asset for this position,
  • Willingness to support site operations through manual labour, including shovelling, operating powered equipment, loading, and unloading of miscellaneous supplies and equipment, light maintenance, and other duties as needed,
  • Willingness to complete on-boarding, electronic logs, and forms,
  • Working professionally with all team members to meet production targets,
  • Good communication skills, attention to detail, and a Safety-First mindset,
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Overall, the Heavy Equipment Operator will be well experienced (this is not an entry level position) and will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment at various site locations within the Merritt and surrounding local area.
