Casual Greenhouse Labourer
$20.71–$22.05 an hour
Responsibilities:
1. Soil Preparation: a. Mixing Soil b. Filling propagation trays and pots c. Following the procedure for the most efficient tray filling.
2. Planting: a. Planting with supervision b. Properly labelling and placing plant product in the dedicated grow area
3. Moving and relocating plant materials: a. Directed by the head grower, plants need to move around the growing facility in a productive manner.
4. Weeding: a. An integral part of a greenhouse operation. b. The greenhouse and outlying areas to be always free of weeds. Directed by Junior Grower.
5. Pruning: a. Proper pruning techniques to help maintain plant shape, encourage growth, and remove dead or damaged parts. b. .
6. Record Keeping: a. Maintain accurate records of plant care activities, culls, cutting back, counting blocks, relocation of plants recording daily production. b. Production forms are provided for each task.
Qualifications: • Valid and current Driver’s License • Knowledge of greenhouse operations and best practices are an asset. • Attention to Detail individual. • Knowledge of running equipment is an asset. • Flexible schedule, on call • Understanding safety protocols is vital. • Willing to work with a team, must work well with others and ensure a positive work ethic. • Physical Stamina is necessary for tasks like lifting and bending, standing for long periods of time. • Must be reliable. • Must be able to lift 50 lbs • Must be able to repetitive work.
