Looking for: Full Time Community and Business Engagement Coordinator

$27–$28 an hour

The Community and Business Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the creation, coordination and delivery of Work BC Merritt’s public relations and marketing activities in accordance with the Work BC Employment Services Program.

Duties

  • Acts as first point of contact with local employers and community service providers to promote our services, develop employer contacts and relationships, determine employer needs, and propose solutions through job matching and placement of clients.
  • Oversee maintenance of Employer-Client Database.
  • Maintain Community Marketing Tracker, Quarterly Marketing Report and other reports as assigned.
  • Creates and implements marketing and advertising campaigns to increase client referrals and community awareness of Work BC programs and services. Marketing campaigns include analyzing operational needs, preparing marketing and advertising strategies, planning and organizing promotional materials, presentations, and scheduling of same.
  • Create and execute an annual and monthly marketing calendar, ensuring campaigns and marketing programs are consistent with contract requirements.
  • Plans and actively participates in community meetings and events by identifying and establishing contacts with community service providers.
  • Serve as the company spokesperson through professional representation enhancing the image of the organization and maintaining a positive spotlight in the community
  • Coordinate and implement in-house events, community information presentations, trade shows, and community events in order to increase community awareness and participation of program services.
  • Manage social media activities including content writing, editing, and publishing on website, website blogs, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Maintain and update website to reflect current information and services (basic knowledge of backend editing required).
  • Create and deliver press releases to various local media outlets.
  • Maintain inventory of marketing collaterals including business cards, letterhead, flyers, brochures, folders.
  • Assist with other company marketing tasks and events.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities as required.
  • Completion of other administrative duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Marketing or Communications certificate/diploma from a recognized university and/or college
  • 2-3 years relevant marketing, communications, PR work experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver's license and ability to commute throughout Thompson Nicola region.

Skills and Abilities

  • A strong understanding and ability to utilize multiple marketing channels.
  • Outstanding oral, written and verbal communication skills including Public Speaking.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and professional personal presentation.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in content marketing, theory and application.
  • Experience with InDesign, Illustrator, web content management systems such as WordPress an asset.
  • Self-motivated, team oriented, and ability to work independently or within a team.
