Indigenous Skills Employment and Training Program
Looking for Employment Counsellor
Responsibilities
- Deliver employment and training supports to indigenous clients in Merritt
- Work with clients to complete required intake forms
- Prepare funding application and contract documents for approval
Works with ISETP Manager to evaluate client eligibility for programs, services and training interventions such as :
- Continuance of employment insurance or income assistance benefits by clients, while attending a Certificate or Diploma training course
- Trainee supports including tuition, mandatory books, supplies, living/transportation allowance
- Job starts (strategic Initiatives)
- Maintain client files for purpose of program referral, work placement, project evaluation and quarterly reporting. Provide follow-up on placements and track client progress using the ARMS web-based database system
- Assist clients to do online job searches
Qualifications
- Career practitioner certification or Diploma social service discipline with 1-2 years experience
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of programs such as Microsoft, Foxit, Xntax and ARMS database
- Valid BC driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Work experience with Aboriginal organizations
- Criminal record check
