Is looking for a Full Time Youth Program Coordinator, BSW

$30–$40 an hour

The responsibilities of this position are wide ranging and include provision of social engagement and mentorship, transportation for meetings and appointments, assessment of physical and mental wellbeing so as to facilitate appropriate action and offering limited but regular on-call support. In this dynamic setting, strong communication, independent decision making, and adaptability are the skills required to successfully meet the needs of the individuals we serve. Also provide Social Development back up.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively helping youth develop life skills such as cleaning, minor maintenance, and yard work.
  • Engage with youth experiencing acute or chronic mental health issues and possessing varying levels of cognitive functioning.
  • Encourage youth towards positive community involvement, learning responsibility, and building life-skills as appropriate.
  • Provide emotional support “lay” counselling, and mentorship as appropriate.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a compassionate and productive manner.
  • Diffuse emotional escalation and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Assess when increased levels of supervision and support are needed due to concerns such as illness, drug and alcohol use, mental health distress, and risk of self-harm.
  • Provide youth with transportation to school, work and appointments.
  • Complete daily logs, reports, and administrative duties accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Social Workers, counselors, families, and various administrators while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of youth.
  • Participate in inter agency meetings such as integrated case management planning sessions for individual youth.

Requirements:

  • Current First Aid, or willingness to obtain
  • Food Safe, or willingness to obtain
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Screening through MCFD
  • Valid BC Driver's license
  • Reliable vehicle is preferred but not necessary
  • Prefer some post-secondary education with an ability to provide clear documentation
