Now Hiring: Cleaner (Casual / On-Call)
Location: 2270 Quilchena Avenue, Merritt, BC
Wage: $21.72–$24.87/hour
Position Type: Casual / On-Call (up to 40 hours per week)
ASK Wellness Society is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team at the 24-Hour Supportive Housing site in Merritt. If you have a passion for cleanliness, safety, and supporting community-based housing services, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, windows, mirrors, furniture, and shared spaces
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize all flooring and surfaces
- Remove garbage and recyclables; maintain organized and sanitary storage
- Handle biohazard cleaning (with provided training) when required
- Report repair needs and supply shortages
- Collaborate with team members and respond to emergency situations as needed
- Maintain accurate cleaning logs, notes, and follow safety protocols
Qualifications:
- Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is an asset
- WHMIS Certification and Occupational First Aid Level 1 (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance
- Comfortable working in high-intensity or harm reduction environments
- Strong communication, documentation, and time-management skills
- Physically able to bend, lift, kneel, and work on your feet
- Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector required
- Willingness to work in a pet-friendly setting
