Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to men and their families, particularly in a rural First Nation setting. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage cases effectively. As a Counselor, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of your clients.
Duties

Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the needs of adults and their families, with a focus on men

Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings.

Provide counseling services to those facing emotional, mental health and addiction challenges.

Collaborate with medical staff, educators, and families to coordinate care and support services.

Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes.

Engage in data collection and research activities to improve counseling practices and outcomes.

Advocate for clients within the healthcare system.

Stay informed about medical terminology relevant to care to enhance communication with healthcare providers.
Minimum Education
-
MUST have a certification in Counselling
-
MUST have or be or be eligible for Registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) or equivalent registering body.

Valid BC Drivers License

Able to pass a Criminal Record Check (vulnerably sector)

Have a minimum of 2 Covid Vaccination
Skills
-
Strong case management abilities to effectively coordinate services for clients.

Familiarity with medical terminology related to patient care.

Experience working in a First Nation setting is preferred.

Proficiency in data collection methods for assessing client progress and outcomes.

Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Research skills to contribute to evidence-based practices in counseling.

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
