Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to men and their families, particularly in a rural First Nation setting. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage cases effectively. As a Counselor, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of your clients.

Duties

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the needs of adults and their families, with a focus on men

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings.

  • Provide counseling services to those facing emotional, mental health and addiction challenges.

  • Collaborate with medical staff, educators, and families to coordinate care and support services.

  • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes.

  • Engage in data collection and research activities to improve counseling practices and outcomes.

  • Advocate for clients within the healthcare system.

  • Stay informed about medical terminology relevant to care to enhance communication with healthcare providers.

Minimum Education

  • MUST have a certification in Counselling

  • MUST have or be or be eligible for Registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) or equivalent registering body.

  • Valid BC Drivers License

  • Able to pass a Criminal Record Check (vulnerably sector)

  • Have a minimum of 2 Covid Vaccination

Skills

  • Strong case management abilities to effectively coordinate services for clients.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to patient care.

  • Experience working in a First Nation setting is preferred.

  • Proficiency in data collection methods for assessing client progress and outcomes.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Research skills to contribute to evidence-based practices in counseling.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
