Looking for full time Housing Manager

$60,000–$70,000 a year

The Housing Manager is responsible for the effective administration, maintenance, and management of all on-reserve housing units. This role ensures that housing operations comply with policies and tenancy agreements, supports member needs, and maintains accurate records. The Housing Manager acts as the primary contact for tenants and coordinates with contractors, staff, and leadership to deliver safe, healthy, and well-maintained housing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration & Records

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date housing records, including tenant files, rental agreements, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
  • Maintain housing waitlist and work with members to support housing needs.
  • Ensure rental agreements are completed, signed, and renewed as required.
  • Track tenancy status, move-ins, move-outs, and vacancies.

Tenant Relations & Support

  • Respond promptly to member requests for maintenance, health and safety concerns, and other housing-related inquiries.
  • Communicate housing policies, procedures, and updates to tenants.
  • Provide support and guidance to tenants regarding their rights and responsibilities.

Maintenance & Work Orders

  • Create, assign, and monitor work orders for repairs, maintenance, and improvements.
  • Coordinate with contractors, maintenance staff, and vendors to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and emergency repairs.

Financial Management

  • Develop and monitor budgets for the housing department.
  • Track expenditures, prepare financial reports, and support funding applications.
  • Recommend cost-effective solutions for maintenance and operations.

Policy & Program Development

· Assist in the development and review of housing policies and procedures.

· Support housing program initiatives, including tenant education, community engagement, and housing upgrades.

· Develop standard operating procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience in property management, housing administration, or a related field.

· Knowledge of residential tenancy legislation and housing policies.

· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other housing management systems.

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between locations as required.

ASSETS:

· Experience working with Indigenous communities or First Nation governments.

· Property management experience

· Familiarity with governance processes and community engagement.

· Knowledge of Nlaka’pamux language or culture.
