Looking for a full time Family Wellness Team Leader

$42.89–$56.77 an hour 

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the Family Prevention program, ensuring alignment with SCFSS’s strategic plan and traditional values
  • Oversee program evaluation and continuous improvement processes
  • Maintain accurate data systems for tracking engagement, referrals, and reporting
  • Conduct safety and risk assessments; support mitigation planning
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and FOIPPA standards
  • Participate in emergency response training and integrate preparedness into team operations
  • Engage Resident Elders for youth support and cultural guidance
  • Collaborate with cultural teams to embed syilx and n?e?kepmx teachings into services
  • Promote trauma-informed and culturally safe practices across programming
  • Build and maintain relationships with Member Communities, Elders, and external partners
  • Represent SCFSS at community events and ensure services reflect community needs
  • Manage program budgets and ensure responsible use of funds
  • Prepare and submit reports aligned with SCFSS’s accountability framework
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with ISC and MCFD guidelines
  • Support development of work plans and administrative tools aligned with strategic priorities
  • Supervise and mentor Family Wellness staff, fostering a healthy and culturally grounded work environment
  • Lead team meetings, performance development, and succession planning
  • Promote ongoing professional development and cultural competency training
  • Ensure staff participation in emergency preparedness and uphold SCFSS policies and values

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear Criminal Record check prior to starting employment.
  • Clear Ministry of Child and Family Development Prior Contact Check prior to starting employment.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license without restrictions.
  • Proven experience in the management and development of teams, with a leadership style that is collaborative, cultural, strategic, and innovative.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or Diploma in social work, counselling or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in social services, counselling, or community wellness.
  • 1+ years working with Indigenous communities is often required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience in supervision or team leadership is commonly expected.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and professional and personal practice of n?e?kepmx and syilx traditional values, cultural practice, and protocols is an asset

MINIMUM REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Indigenous Knowledge: applied knowledge n?e?kepmx and syilx culture and language; sensitivity to the historical and systemic impacts on Indigenous families and communities from intergenerational trauma.
  • Critical Thinking: analytical, methodical, fact-based decision-making, with a capacity for creative problem solving, and considering diverse perspectives.
  • Business and Strategic Acumen: proficient in business and strategic concepts in application to SCFSS.
  • Communication: facilitation and presentation skills, professional business writing, and ability to communicate clearly and confidently with diverse audiences.
  • Motivation: self-motivated, capable of effectively motivating others and, high productivity
  • Time Management: highly organized, ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, delegate responsibilities and coordinate multiple tasks to achieve goals.
  • Conflict Resolution: anticipates, diffuses, and resolves conflicts while fostering a positive work environment.
