Looking for a full time Circles Coordinator
$38.19–$47.45 an hour
OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and facilitate Circles that support family reunification, kinship care, youth transitions, and emergency response.
- Support families in accessing prevention services through discovery circles
- Support families in the development and implementation of family plans.
- Provide culturally safe guidance and advocacy throughout the Circle process
- Collaborate and coordinate services with community resources; increase collaborations between community agencies/entities in proactive efforts for family support.
- Implement routine consultation with Resident Elders for services and programming support.
- Ensure practices are culturally safe, reflective of intergenerational impacts, and trauma-informed practice in alignment with Syilx and N?e?kepmx culture and traditions.
- Ensure regular reporting requirements are met to the Family Team Leader, funding bodies, and appropriate agencies to produce appropriate documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S policies and procedures
- Participate in team meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and All Staff Meetings
- Maintain a Personal Development Plan and Individual Work Plan
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Clear Criminal Record check prior to starting employment.
- Clear Ministry of Child and Family Development Prior Contact Check prior to starting employment.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license without restrictions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a relevant field to the work performed. A combination of education, experience, and training will be considered.
- SCFSS is committed to building community capacity by offering training opportunities to community members who are hired in this position.
- Minimum two years of experience working with Indigenous families and communities.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in social work, psychology, or community development
- Experience with Circle facilitation and Alternative Dispute Resolution
- Demonstrated knowledge of N?e?kepmx and Syilx cultural practices and protocols.
MINIMUM REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Indigenous Knowledge: working knowledge or willingness to learn n?e?kepmx and syilx culture and language; sensitivity to the historical and systemic impacts on Indigenous families and communities from intergenerational trauma due to colonialism, residential school history, the sixties scoop, and association with the child welfare system.
- Critical Thinking: analytical, methodical, fact-based decision-making, creative problem solving, and considers different perspectives.
- Communication: facilitation and presentation skills, professional business writing, clear and confident communication with a variety of audiences.
- Motivation: self-motivated, can motivate others effectively, high productivity.
- Technology: intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and other IT platforms for word processing, reporting, database navigation, and communication.
- Time Management: organized, prioritizes tasks, manages deadlines, delegates responsibilities, and coordinates simultaneous tasks to accomplish goals.
- Conflict Resolution: anticipates, diffuses, and resolves disagreements, confrontations, tensions, and complaints; fosters a positive and cohesive work environment.
