Looking for Indigenous Languages Community Liaison and Instructional Coordinator

$57,138.47-$68,274.45 a year – Full Time

Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary diploma with a minimum of one year of experience working in the BC public post-secondary system, equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Prior knowledge of Indigenous languages supported by NVIT, including N?e?kepmx, Secwepemctsín, Nsyilxc?n, and Stat?l?imc.
  • Knowledge of the Language Fluency Framework and its transferability from NVIT to UBC.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or in Indigenous language revitalization initiatives is an asset.
  • Extensive computer systems experience, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in educational settings.
  • Ability to support faculty and students with classroom management
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze, process, and disseminate information through diverse mediums.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality service for students, the public, and the NVIT community.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, establish work priorities, and perform in a high-volume, detail-oriented environment with attention to accuracy and timelines.
  • Understanding of Canada’s colonial history and its impacts on Indigenous peoples, cultures, and ways of knowing.
  • Practice from a holistic, culturally safe, and trauma-informed lens.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous languages, cultures, and lived experiences.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT.
