Responsibilities
- Provide personalized tutoring and academic supports for students
- Building and collaborating a working relationship with the student success center team, Elders, Faculty and staff
- Promote and support student engagement in campus workshops, learning labs, mentorship opportunities, events and cultural activities
- Support students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and across all platforms and modalities
- Demonstrate an understanding of equity, Diversity, and inclusion principals and recognize the value of fostering a community that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion
- Engage with students in a professional trauma-informed and inclusive manner
- Support and/or facilitate academic workshops
- Invigilate student exams in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Maintain the upkeep of the success center, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and functionality
- This agreement may be reduced or terminated at the discretion of the employer
- Relevant bachelor's degree with major in English is preferred
- Education and/or experience in universal design and special education is preferred
- Understanding of Canada's history and the impacts on indigenous peoples and indigenous ways of being and knowing
- Promotion of holistic wellness, cultural safety, and relevancy, and trauma-informed practice
- Knowledge of and appreciation for indigenous languages and cultures preferably indigenous lived experiences
- Experience with aboriginal adult learning and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work flexible hours on weekdays/evenings and weekends
- A demonstrated commitment to quality service to students and the public
- Self-motivated, independent problem solver, with enthusiastic initiative
