New gold is looking for a Junior Water Scientist

Tasks
- Collect water samples, record and compile seepage information, and contribute to water management for the underground mine
- Track and monitor underground water balance and the site wide water balance
- Compile data and prepare charts and memos to provide input to water management activities
- Support hydrogeological investigations and water-related risk management teams
- Support surface water and groundwater monitoring activities and associated data management
- Contribute to the companies environmental, social and governance team
- Project coordination and contractor management
- This is a safety sensitive role and will act as the representative for the environment team in the underground mine
- other duties as required
Qualifications and other requirements
- A degree in Environmental science, Geology, or Environmental/Mining engineering
- Registered, or eligible for registration as a professional in training (GIT, EIT, Ag among other may be acceptable)
- 1-3 years of experience relevant to the key responsibilities, with a preference to underground mining experience
- Microsoft Office and data management skills
- Class 5 Driver's License and access to personal transportation
- Successful completion of Pre-placement functional screen
- Provide proof of a valid class 5 Driver's License
- Provide confirmation of valid education requirements
