Is looking for a powerline trainee (Various location across BC: Coquitlam, Abbotsford, Price George)

$36.54 per hour

Responsibilities

• Under direction of a qualified Journeyman or Sub-Foreman, a trades trainee may:
  • Use hand tools
  • Identify materials
  • Work as a ground person & material handle
  • Dig pole holes, anchors, etc.
  • Perform labour-type work in pole setting and URD
  • Operate bucket and boom trucks
  • Climb
  • Install and pull on cold construction
  • Frame poles on the ground
• Assists with warehouse cleanliness, recycling and waste disposal
• Operate forklifts, carts, dollies, and other equipment as required
• Assist with snow removal and yard access requirements
• Load, unload and move materials around the worksite
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Assist with maintaining a safe work environment and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations
• Participate in health and safety related duties
• Other related duties as required

Requirements

• Able to work independently in a busy environment
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Able to work effectively with others
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 LBS) safely and efficiently
• Able to crouch and bend through shift
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Physical dexterity
• Capable of working at heights, confined spaces, trenches, and excavations
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Precise and detailed in  work
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• A high commitment to personal safety and the safety of others
• Strong “can-do” approach to work
• Safety equipment will be required (steel-toed boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
