Is looking for a powerline trainee (Various location across BC: Coquitlam, Abbotsford, Price George)
$36.54 per hour
Responsibilities
- Under direction of a qualified Journeyman or Sub-Foreman, a trades trainee may:
- Use hand tools
- Identify materials
- Work as a ground person & material handle
- Dig pole holes, anchors, etc.
- Perform labour-type work in pole setting and URD
- Operate bucket and boom trucks
- Climb
- Install and pull on cold construction
- Frame poles on the ground
- Assists with warehouse cleanliness, recycling and waste disposal
- Operate forklifts, carts, dollies, and other equipment as required
- Assist with snow removal and yard access requirements
- Load, unload and move materials around the worksite
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Assist with maintaining a safe work environment and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations
- Participate in health and safety related duties
- Other related duties as required
Requirements
- Able to work independently in a busy environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to work effectively with others
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 LBS) safely and efficiently
- Able to crouch and bend through shift
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Physical dexterity
- Capable of working at heights, confined spaces, trenches, and excavations
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Precise and detailed in work
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- A high commitment to personal safety and the safety of others
- Strong “can-do” approach to work
- Safety equipment will be required (steel-toed boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.)
