Is looking for a Arts & Recreation Coordinator (Female Focused Role)

Tasks

  • Design, coordinate, facilitate arts, cultural, recreational, and wellness programs
  • Deliver engaging programming that supports youth, including gender-inclusive and culturally relevant activities
  • Provide instruction and guidance in arts, crafts, sports, and recreational activities
  • Adapt programming to meet diverse participant needs, including individuals with additional support requirements
  • Create and maintain safe, respectful and supportive environments for female participants
  • Deliver programming that aligns with cultural values, traditions, and community needs
  • Support gender-specific initiatives and spaces that encourage open participation and trust
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for young women in the community
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with youth, families, and community members
  • Encourage participation from female youth and support their continued engagement
  • Assist with community events, workshops, and cultural initiatives
  • Coordinate schedules, maintain attendance records, and prepare records
  • Ensure all activities follow safety protocols and provide first aid when required
  • Maintain equipment, supplies and program spaces
  • Work collaboratively with the Male-focused Arts & Recreation Coordinator to ensure balanced programming
  • Support volunteers, junior staff, and program assistants
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation is an asset
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel is an asset)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Including vulnerable Sector, if applicable)
  • Experience in community work, event support, or administration is an asset
  • Interest in cultural programming and community engagement is preferred
  • Experience working with youth, particularly female youth, in recreation, arts, or community programming
  • Relevant certifications (or willingness to obtain), such as First Aid, CPR/AED, or recreation training
  • Basic understanding of Nlaka’pamux culture, traditions, and community values, or willingness to learn
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support community programming
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
