Is looking for a Part-time Head Start Childcare Cook
$21.85 an hour
Tasks
- Prepare and serve balanced meals and snacks following Canada’s Food Guide – First Nations, Inuit and Metis
- Ensure proper portion sizes, no processed foods and limited sugary foods
- Be knowledgeable and accommodate for food allergies, dietary restrictions, and medical needs
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen
- Follow all food safety practices, including FIFO (First in, First out) and expiry dates
- Comply with Interior Health, Child Care Licensing, and Aboriginal and HeadStart standards
- Prepare and post weekly menus; maintain food service documentation
- Assist with ordering food and supplies within budget
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and special program events as required
- Be available to cook for special events, field trips, and program activities
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Safe Food Handing (Food Safe) Certification
- 1-2 years’ food service experience (Large group cooking is preferred
- CPR & First aid Certification
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of food safety and childcare health regulations
- Ability to meet Interior Health regulations
