Is looking for a Class 1 Truck Diver – Ashcroft / Logan Lake

$36.00 an hour

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, applicatio9n with safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations
  • Perform pre and post en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver’s hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions
  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
  • Efficiently maneuver trucks and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
  • Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment are in good working order
  • Report all vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor
  • Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites
  • Record, maintain and check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers
  • Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure
  • Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements. Tarping loads may be a requirement
  • Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up
  • Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems \
  • Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect
  • Train others when required

 

Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Valid class 1  driver’s license with airbrake endorsement
  • Super B and mountain driving experience
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance requirements
  • Ability to move up to 100 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs overhead and 75 lbs to shoulder height
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions while maintaining a professional demeanor
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, including reading safety documentation, completing reports, and communicating with dispatch personnel
  • Proven ability to drive safely in snow and adverse weather conditions, including tire chaining when required
  • Strong safety mindset with a quality-oriented approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
  • Positive team attitude with strong work ethic
