Is looking for a Class 1 Truck Diver – Ashcroft / Logan Lake
$36.00 an hour
Responsibilities:
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, applicatio9n with safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations
- Perform pre and post en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance
- Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver’s hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions
- Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
- Efficiently maneuver trucks and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
- Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment are in good working order
- Report all vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor
- Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites
- Record, maintain and check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
- Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers
- Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations
- Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers
- Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
- Perform periodic inspections before, during and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure
- Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements. Tarping loads may be a requirement
- Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up
- Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems \
- Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect
- Train others when required
Qualifications:
- Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid class 1 driver’s license with airbrake endorsement
- Super B and mountain driving experience
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
- Basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance requirements
- Ability to move up to 100 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs overhead and 75 lbs to shoulder height
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to work under stressful conditions while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, including reading safety documentation, completing reports, and communicating with dispatch personnel
- Proven ability to drive safely in snow and adverse weather conditions, including tire chaining when required
- Strong safety mindset with a quality-oriented approach
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
