Nicola Valley Institute of Technology

Is looking for Term Instructors – Indigenous and Holistic Wellness and Addictions

$7600 a month

NVIT anticipates a need for multiple Term Instructors within the Indigenous Holistic Wellness and Addictions certificate, diploma and advanced diploma program and invites applications from qualified candidates. This will be a term opportunity, and course offerings are subject to sufficient student enrolment. Applicants should indicate which courses they are qualified for, interested in teaching and their location preference is applicable.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be registered through the Indigenous Certification Board of Canada
  • Possesses a relevant master’s degree preferably with an addictions background
  • Must be practicing the Red Road theory for a minimum of 5 years
  • Knowledge and understanding of Medicine Wheel teachings
  • Have Indigenous adult learners at a college or university level
  • Applicants must be willing to teach face-to-face in-class and on campus and/or in the community
  • Applicants must be familiar with Moodle, Teams, and Outlook operating platforms
  • Strong team player with excellent human relation skills – faculty members are expected to contribute positively to the life of the school and community
  • Understanding of Canada’s colonial history and the devastating impacts on Indigenous peoples and Indigenous ways of being and knowing
  • Practice from a holistic, culturally safe and trauma-informed lens
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous languages and cultures, and Indigenous lived experiences
  • Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT
