Nicola Similkameen School District

Is looking for Election Officials – 2026 School Trustee Election

Compensation: Mandatory Training -$100.00, $375.00 per voting day

Nicola Similkameen School District is seeking reliable, community-minded individuals to serve as Election Officials for the 2026 School Trustee Election for the trustee electoral areas corresponding to Electoral areas M and N of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.

 

Voting Dates & Hours:

  • Advance Voting Day – October 7, 2026, | 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • General Voting Day – October 17, 2026, | 7:00 a.m. until completion of ballot counting

Locations: TBD – a minimum of one voting location in Lower Nicola and one location in Quilchena

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with opening, operating and closing the voting place
  • Welcome and assist electors in a courteous, impartial and professional manner
  • Follow voting, elector-processing and ballot-handling procedures as directed by the Chief Election Officer
  • Maintain with integrity, security and confidentiality of the voting process and election materials
  • Assist with voting-place records, forms and election documentation
  • Assist with ballot counting and closing procedures on General Voting Day, as assigned
  • Perform other election-related duties as directed by the Chief Election Officer

What We Are Looking For:

  • Prior experience with elections preferred but not mandatory
  • Reliability, punctuality and ability to follow detailed procedures accurately
  • Good judgement, attention to detail and ability to remain calm in a busy public setting
  • Ability to maintain strict political neutrality and confidentiality
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of an election team
  • Availability for long voting-day shift and the mandatory training session
  • Reliable transportation to the assigned voting location

 

Mandatory Training:

All Election Officials must attend a mandatory training session before the election
