Is looking for a Finance Assistant (Accounts Payable & Receivable)
$25.00-$33.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant provides essential support for the organizations day-to-day financial operations, with a primary focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting financial reporting and reconciliation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
- Prepare purchase orders, payment requests, cheque requisitions, and electronic payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable
- Receive, record, and reconcile incoming payments
- Prepare and deliver bank deposits
- Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
- Respond to vendor, client, and funding partner inquiries as required
- Maintain donation payment records and issue acknowledgements
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Provide administrative support to the finance department as required
Qualifications:
- Certificate, Diploma, or training in Accounting, Finance Bookkeeping, Business or a related field
- Minimum two (2) years of related bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related experience
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting systems (experience with Xyntax is an asset)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Skills & Abilities:
- Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of work
- Proficient computer skills, including accounting software
- Strong problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills
- High level of confidentiality, diligence, and reliability
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working with diverse populations
Requirements:
- Successful Criminal Record Check
- Proof of education and certification (If selected for an interview)
- Minimum of three (3) professional references
- Driver’s license is an asset
