Description
The Community Outreach Worker-Winter Relief supports NVSSS’s Winter emergency initiative by providing weekend coverage for meal service, winter survival supply distribution, cultural wellness activities, and client support. This role plays a key part in helping vulnerable individuals stay safe, warm, and connected during the winter months
What you’ll do
Serve hot, healthy weekend meals
Distribute winter clothing, survival kits, and holiday hampers
Facilitate cultural wellness activities
Keep simple records for grant reporting
Who you are
Reliable, compassionate, and community focused
Comfortable preparing meals for groups
Organized and able to manage basic budgets and inventory
Respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally aware
Experience in social services or indigenous cultural settings is an asset
Requirements
- Ability to work every Saturday and Sunday 10AM-6PM
- Successful Criminal record and vulnerable sector check
- Ability to work in Canada
- Willingness to follow NVSSS safety and Working alone procedures
- First aid Certificate (preferred)
- Food safety Certification (Preferred)
- Nonviolent crisis intervention/CPI Certification (Preferred)
- Class 5 BC driver’s license & access to a reliable vehicle (Required)
