Is looking for a Finance Clerk

$30.00-$42.00 an hour

Tasks

  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice review, coding, and data entry.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank deposits, vendor payments, and credit card transactions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, files, and supporting documentation in accordance with audit requirements.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities as requested.
  • Other duties as determines by Senior Finance Manger
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical finance files.
  • Support the preparation of financial schedules, reports, and summaries for initial use.
  • Assist with funding claims, tracking expenditures against approved budgets.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to invoices, payments, and account balances.
  • Enter transactions accurately into the accounting system in accordance with approved chart of accounts and coding structures.
  • Ensure compliance with Band policies, funding agreements, and internal financial controls.
  • Support audit requests by locating and organizing documentation as required.
  • Handle confidential financial and employee information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Work closely with program staff to resolve invoice or documentation issues.
  • Liaise with vendors, service providers, and funding agencies as directed.
  • Provide backup support to other finance team members when required.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Payroll, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or administrative support role.
  • Experience in a First Nations Government, public sector, or non-profit environment is considered and asset.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial record keeping
  • Familiarity with audit process and funding compliance requirements is an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to use basic computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and other workplace software.
  •  Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening
