Looking for a Full Time Security Guard


$22.17–$29.99 an hour

The Security Guard supports staff safety and operational accountability by ensuring facilities are secured at the start and end of each workday, maintaining situational awareness throughout shifts, and documenting incidents as required. All duties are carried out with professionalism, discretion, cultural awareness, and respect for confidentiality.


OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a consistent on-site security presence to ensure the safety of staff, clients, visitors, and organizational assets.
  • Monitor facility access, alarm systems, CCTV, and security controls, responding appropriately to security concerns and incidents.
  • Conduct routine patrols, safety inspections, and hazard assessments of buildings, grounds, vehicles, and workspaces.
  • Investigate and respond to suspicious activity, disturbances, unauthorized access attempts, and emergency situations.
  • Assist with emergency response activities, including evacuations, lockdowns, incident management, and risk reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure facilities are properly secured at opening and closing, including doors, windows, gates, and alarm systems.
  • Promote a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment through professional interactions with staff, clients, community members, and visitors.
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally respectful approaches to communication, conflict de-escalation, and problem resolution.
  • Maintain accurate security logs, patrol records, occurrence reports, incident documentation, and other required records.
  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive information, records, and security-related documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, organizational initiatives, training, and professional development activities.
  • Ensure all security practices comply with organizational policies, OH&S requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Promote n?e?kepmx and syilx values by supporting culturally safe practices, respectful relationships, and community engagement.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Valid Security Worker License issued by the Province of BC.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a security setting.
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families, and/or communities.
  • Prior experience in a Delegated Aboriginal Agency or community-based organization is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial health and safety legislation and WorkSafeBC regulations.

  • Business and Strategic Acumen: proficient in business and strategic concepts in application to SCFSS
  • Communication: facilitation and presentation skills, professional business writing, and ability to communicate clearly and confidently with diverse audiences
  • Motivation: self-motivated, capable of effectively motivating others and, high productivity
  • Time Management: highly organized, ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, delegate responsibilities and coordinate multiple tasks to achieve goals
  • Conflict Resolution: anticipates, diffuses, and resolves conflicts while fostering a positive work environment
