Is looking for a Skidder Operator

$40.00 an hour

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Skidder Operator to join our team as a Fawcett Cannon operator. The current requirement is someone able to work in the Merritt, BC area.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of wildfire activity, and a passion for working outdoors in a physically demanding environment.

Duties:

• Operates skidder (aka The Fawcett Cannon) according to requirements in wildfire fighting, adhering to safety protocols and operational standards
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
• Collaborate with ground crews and other operators to coordinate wildfire attack
• Maintain detailed logs of daily operations, equipment usage, and maintenance activities
• Support landscape maintenance efforts around worksite to minimize environmental impact

Experience:

• Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as skidders, bulldozers, or similar machinery in forestry settings
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on equipment
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and forestry work environments
• Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks and ensure equipment remains in excellent working condition
